Our June project hit me when the temperatures started warming up and summer was approaching.  Our family was starting to use our porch more and congregating more in that space.  I was noticing that the space was devoid of happy colors!  That just wouldn't do!  So...I welcome you to the Summer of Pillow Palooza!!

What I love about the Summer of Pillow Palooza is that it is doable!  These projects are fun, quick and oh so satisfying!

Drumroll please...here is your June project!!

I love it and I hope you do too!  It certainly adds a splash of summery colors to our porch!

Of course, with Lori fabrics comes Lori inspiration!  Lori's books and Instagram are FULL of inspiration!  I just started scrolling through and these colors were just what I was looking for to brighten our home!  This was also one of my favorite blocks when making my Vintage Christmas quilt from Lori's Vintage Christmas book!

This 12" block is called the Christmas Star and you can find it on page 22 of the Vintage Christmas book by Lori Holt.  Click HERE to get your Vintage Christmas book.  I added sashing to my block according to the instructions on page 182 including cornerstones.

My pillow top finished at 18 1/2 x 18 1/2.

Once the pillow top was sandwiched and quilted (by my friend Kris!) I started adding backing and binding.

I used an envelope opening on the back using a 3" overlap.  Lori gives instruction on how to do this in her Quilty Fun book.  Click HERE.  It is super easy peasy!  If I can do it...trust me...anyone can!  😁

Once the backing was secured I added the binding.  I was second guessing myself every step of the way and this pillow is definitely NOT perfect, but I LOVE it!  You know the best part?  Sewing time!  Being creative!

Life is busy and sometimes it is challenging to fit in the things that bring us joy, but those are the things we need the most!  It was an absolute breath of fresh air to make this little project!  I feel a bit lighter, a bit happier and have a big smile from enjoying the making process!  Even from a smaller project...so satisfying!

I hope you will join me for the Summer of Pillow Palooza!  One down and two more to go!  Let's have some fun freshening up our homes with happy colors!

Happy stitching, my friends! 🤗
