Each week I will post here on our Happy Little Blog about the two blocks that we will be working on for the week.  You will be able to get fabric usage information and see what fabrics are placed where and used for each chicken.  Mark your calendar to check back here every Monday!

Here are some details about a few fabrics that will be used repeatedly in blocks.  I would set these fabrics aside for repetitive use.

From yardage...

We will be using this print from the Americana collection for all of our chicken block backgrounds.  You can cut all 12 chicken block backgrounds from this print so they are ready to go.

From fat quarter bundle...

We will use this print from the Americana collection for all the chicken combs and waddles.

We will be using this gold print from the Americana collection for all of the chicken beaks and feet.  This will also be used for the baby chick beaks.

Here we go!  This week we will be making Myrtle and Florence!  Let's get going with Myrtle first!

And you already have your repetitive fabrics set aside for background, waddle, comb, beaks, and feet.  Time to put your Myrtle block together!  Once she is appliquéd and any embroidery added you can trim her up to the correct size....

After she is trimmed to the correct size, you can add her borders.  Remember the borders do not go all the way around each block.  Follow Lori's blog for how to add your borders.  You can make these borders scrappy, but if you want to know the fabrics we used for our scrappy Myrtle borders I have included them below for you.

Once your border pieces are added you can set your cute little Myrtle aside!

Now let's work on Florence!
